Professor Wim Voermans, dean of the European Academy of Law and Legislation (EALL), presented a two-day workshop on Building Capacities for Legislative Drafting in Ankara, Turkey. The workshop was part of an international congress held in Ankara on 30 June and 1 July. The congress was organised by the Office of the Turkish Prime Minister, the OECD and SIGMA and funded by the European Commission. |

EALL, 15 July 2009
At the invitation of the EALL, an official delegation from the Turkish parliament had a successful study trip to The Hague. During their visit from 6 to 10 July, the Turkish visitors met Dutch parliamentarians and representatives from influential advisory organisations like the Social and Economic Council (SER) and the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers (VNO-NCW). The visitors were particularly intrigued and impressed by the role of the SER in the Dutch system, which also invited the necessary questions. |

EALL, 3 July 2009
Since 1 July, the European Academy for Law and Legislation (EALL) has been acting as the secretariat for the International Association of Legislation (IAL). This was agreed by the boards of both organisations. Because the secretariat at the EALL is permanently staffed, the IAL expects to be able to improve its services to its members. The EALL fulfils this task besides its daily commitments as European-oriented academy for law and legislation.
