Peer review of Jordanian legislative drafting capacities

EALL, 7-11 January 2010
Following an invitation of the Jordanian government, a team of experts including prof. Wim Voermans (EALL) embarked on a SIGMA-mission to Amman, from 7-11 January 2010. SYGMA, a cooperation of the OECD and the European Commission, took on the job of interactively peer reviewing the policy-making and legislative drafting capacities of Jordan. The review in particular concerned the functioning of the Legislation Opinion Bureau.

EALL, 17 December 2009 (updated)
A conference on 17 and 18 December officially marks the emergence of the EALL as a knowledge and education institute for international legislative lawyers. The theme of the conference is 'Styles of Legislation'. The event will take place in the Peace Palace, in The Hague. The programme is available, the on-line registration is closed.

'We must be aware of the diverging elements in our legal systems’ said Dutch Minister of Justice mr Hirsch Ballin on the first day ot the conference ‘Styles of Legislation’ in the Peace Palace in The Hague. The two day conference marked the official start of the European Academy for Law and Legislation (EALL).

EALL, 13-14 December 2009 On 14 December, SIGMA/OECD and the legal department of the Ministry of Finance in Tbilisi, Georgia are jointly organising a workshop on different approaches to legislative drafting throughout the EU. EALL is contributing expertise.
