EALL, 24-25 June 2010
The bi annual event of the International Association of Legislation (IAL) event on 'Quality of Legislation' took place on 24-25 June 2010, in Lisbon. dr. Marta Tavares de Almeida (Universidade Nova, vice-chairwoman IAL) and prof. Pierre Guibentiff (Universidade Nova) invited participants to reflect in an open debate on principles and instruments to achieve 'quality' in legislative policy

The 9th IAL-Congress focused on topics related to the panels of 'quality of legislation', 'regulatory impact assessment' and 'legislative communication'. Approximately 90 participants from Europe, as well as from South America, Africa and the Far East joined the Congress. Prof. Wim Voermans (EALL) provided one of the presentations and Chris Moll (EALL) briefed the IAL-Board and the members on the activities of the IAL-Secretariat. A guided tour and reception in the Portuguese Parliament and a boat tour along the river banks of Tejo underlined a sound, charming and perfectly organized event. The proceedings of the event will be published by NOMOS, and are due to become available by the end of 2010.

The 10th IAL-Congress is set for 2012 (destination to be confirmed).

The IAL is a voluntary organization for professionals in the field of law and legislation. The purpose of the association is to strengthen international cooperation in the field of legislation.
